The short version: Rawi processes all audio entirely on your device. No audio is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. The app works fully offline with no account required.
Rawi ("the app") is developed and operated by Yusuf Algan Design FZ-LLC ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the app and our website (rawiapp.xyz) collect, why, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data controller

2. Data the app collects
2.1 Audio
Audio is captured from your device's microphone, processed entirely on-device by a local AI model, and discarded immediately after identification. No audio is ever uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any server. The app works fully offline.
2.2 Verse history
Identified verses are saved to your device as history entries. If you upgrade to Rawi Pro, your verse history is synced across your devices via Apple iCloud (CloudKit). This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. Free-tier history remains local to your device only.
2.3 Coarse location
If you enable location tagging in Settings, Rawi attaches a city-level location name to each verse history entry. Location data is resolved on-device and stored locally (or in your iCloud account for Pro users). We never receive or process your location data on any server.
Legal basis: Consent (you explicitly enable location tagging).
2.4 Anonymous analytics
If enabled, Rawi sends anonymous, non-identifiable usage signals (e.g., "recording started", "ayah matched", and search terms you enter) to TelemetryDeck. These signals contain no personal data, no device identifiers, and no audio, and are never linked to your identity. You can disable analytics at any time in the app's Settings.

2.5 Crash and performance diagnostics
Rawi uses Apple's MetricKit framework to collect crash logs, hang reports, and performance metrics (launch time, energy usage). This data is processed by Apple and shared with us in aggregated, anonymized form. No personal information is included. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

2.6 In-app purchases
Rawi Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We do not receive or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). Apple handles all purchase data subject to their Privacy Policy.
2.7 Feedback and corrections
When you correct a verse identification, the correction data (matched verse, correct verse, and matching features) is stored locally on your device to improve future accuracy. This data is never transmitted to any server.
3. What Rawi does not collect
- No account or sign-in required, ever
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No personal information (name, email, phone number) within the app
- No audio is ever stored or transmitted

5. Data the website collects
5.1 Google Analytics
Our website (rawiapp.xyz) uses Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymized usage data (pages visited, time on site, referral source). No personal information is collected. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (understanding website traffic).
6. Data retention
- Audio: Discarded immediately after processing (not stored).
- Verse history (free tier): Stored on your device until you delete it. Last 10 entries retained.
- Verse history (Pro): Stored on your device and in your iCloud account until you delete it.
- Location data: Retained as part of verse history entries.
- Feedback corrections: Stored locally on your device indefinitely.
- Analytics signals: Retained by TelemetryDeck per their retention policy.
- Diagnostic data: Retained by Apple per their retention policy.
- Google Analytics cookies: Expire after 2 years (Google default).
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
For all users
- Access: You can view all your data directly in the app (verse history, settings).
- Deletion: You can delete your verse history and feedback data within the app at any time. To delete your iCloud-synced data, use the app or Apple's iCloud settings.
- Opt-out of analytics: Disable anonymous analytics in the app's Settings.
- Disable location: Revoke location permission in iOS Settings or disable location tagging within the app.
For EU/EEA residents (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict processing of your data
- Data portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

For California residents (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Delete your personal information
- Opt-out of the sale of personal information

8. Children's privacy
Rawi does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app contains no advertising and requires no personal data to function. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. International data transfers
The app processes data on your device. When iCloud sync is enabled (Pro), Apple may transfer your data internationally per their policies. TelemetryDeck processes analytics data in the European Union. Google Analytics data may be processed in the United States under Google's data transfer framework.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes that affect your rights, we will notify you through the app or by email (if you have provided one). Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
